DIETARY FIBRE
Dietary fibre is a type of complex carbohydrate made up of plant material that cannot be digested by the human body. Dietary fibre is mainly present in leaves, skins, roots, and seeds. Processing and refining foods removes almost all of the natural fibre. The main sources of dietary fibre are whole-grain cereals, fruits and vegetables. Dietary fibre is important in our diet because it may help decrease the risk for cardiovacular disease and cancer. Several disorders are linked to low fibre intake, including constipation, obesity etc.


WATER
Water is the most important nutrient and is involved in almost every vital body process. Approximately 70 percent of total body weight is water. Water is used in digestion and absorption of food, in the circulatory process, in removing waste products, in building and rebuilding cells, and in the transport of other nutrients.

If the Internal Environment conditions (chemical content, volume, temperature and pressure of body's tissue fluid) deviate from normal, body's mechanisms respond that try to restore Internal environment (tisue fluid) conditions to normal.

If the body's mechanisms are unsuccessful, to restore the conditions (chemical content, volume, temperature and pressure) of body's tissue fluid (internal environment) to normal, the cell malfunctions and dies. This leads to illness or disease.

A lack of Internal Environment (tissue fluid) well-being leads to illness or disease.

In human beings all processes like growth, respiration, digestion, and excretion are inter related. No part of the body , from the smallest cell to a complete body system works in isolation. DIETARY HEALTH PROBLEMS :
The diet should be low in fat and high in fibre, with ample amounts of vitamins from natural sources. Obesity should be avoided. Low fibre intake seems to increase the risk of colon cancer. These salt-cured, smoked and nitrite-cured foods have been linked  to cancer of the esophagus and stomach, hence these foods should be avoided. Alcolholism increases the risk of certain cancers, especially when combined with tobacco smoking or smokeless tobacco. In combination alcoholism and tobacco smoking or smokeless tobacco significantly increase the risk of mouth, larynx, throat, oesophagus, and liver cancers. According to some research, the synergistic action of heavy use of alcohol and tobacco yields a fifteen-fold increase in cancer of the oral activity. High fat intake has been linked with many health problems.


OBESITY :
Obesity has become a health hazard in most developed countries around the world. Obesity by itself has been associated with several serious health problems. Obesity has long been recognised as a major risk factor for diseases of the cardiovascular system, including coronary heart disease, hypertension, congestive heart failure, elevated blood lipids, atherosclerosis, strokes, thromboembolitic disease, varicouse veins, and intermittent claudications.

Individuals with psychological or physiological problems misuse food in self-destructive ways. Anorexics obsess over imagined fat and deny themselves nourishment. Bulimics stuff down feelings with food and then throw it all back up. Obese overeaters nibble or gorge, trying to fill a void, and can't get enough. Whether emotionally or chemically triggered, physical cravings for favourite treats drive people to abuse food. The abuse further stresses the body and disturbs the mind.
